Outdoor Cornish Wedding at Boconnoc Estate
Bethan & Peter: I grew up in Cornwall outside a little town called Lostwithiel and Pete grew up in Manchester, Pete has fallen in love with South West so we both wanted to get married in Cornwall. As a lot of our family were travelling from far and wide we wanted to make a weekend of it, this was one of the many reasons we chose the beautiful
Boconnoc Estate.
Neither of us is particularly religious so we wanted to get married outside in the beautiful old Victorian bathhouse, there was something so magical about it and the old granite made a beautiful background to our ceremony.
Boconnoc is so beautiful in itself that we didn't need to do a lot of decorating, We wanted our style to be simple, natural and elegant to reflect the Cornish countryside. We got married in summer so wanted everything to feel light and summery. We used a combination of wedding magazines,
Pinterest and blogs such as Rock My Wedding for inspiration.
We tried to use local Cornish suppliers where possible, we were very Lucky to be able to call some of them family friends. My sister knew the girls from the wonderful
Garden Gate Flower Company, they are amazing they grow all their own flowers, and put to gather stunning natural bouquets depending on what is growing seasonally, I gave them the brief for our colour scheme and then left them to work their magic. The results were stunning and suited Boconnoc and our natural elegant theme so beautifully.
The owner of the
Cornish Gouda Company is a very good family friend and he created the most beautiful delicious cheese tower, using his own Cornish Gouda and other Cornish cheeses.
We served ice creams on the lawn, from the wonderful
Cornish Ice Trike, again using local Cornish Roskilly’s Ice cream and we had the wonderful Kernowforno pizza oven serving delicious stone baked pizza in the evening.
So many of our friends and family have young children and we really wanted to include them in our day and make sure they had the best time. So we asked
Karla’s Parties a children's entertainment service to come along, they provided a creche during the day which the children loved and babysitting service in the evening so the parents could enjoy the party and have a rest. It was so wonderful watching the children have a lovely time and to watch them playing on the lawn in the sunshine.
