The Venue
Nicola the Bride: When we started planning our wedding we both agreed we wanted a summer wedding with the day to be relaxed & fun the evening to be a big party for everyone we loved to celebrate with us. After searching for venues we came across
Fetcham Park & fell in love as soon as we walked inside. It has a great contrast, it is a grand, beautiful and romantic place mixed with a touch of glamour we knew everyone would fall in love with it just as we did.
The team from Fetcham Park were amazing, especially our incredible wedding planner come fairy god mother, Anna of
Bride & Glory, who was so excited for our big day from the moment we met to the day itself.
As we couldn't stay at Fetcham Park, We visited the nearby village of Ripley where we found
Broadway Barns, a little collection of cottages, Villas & a B&B perfect for the bridal party to stay at & for us to have a little cottage to share our first night as Mr & Mrs. Many of our friends joined us for the weekend as we celebrated before and after the big day in the sunshine.
Catering
We were recommended
Kalm Kitchen for their unique & fun presentation of the food, canapés in bird cages & glass boxes, personalised menus & tremendous waiting staff. Fine art food with unique touches. We didn’t want a wedding cake but Fetcham provides a lovely big table in the shell room that we felt needed to be filled. We went with an amazing Cheese board that Kalm Kitchen put together in a very attractive way. We also provided our own touch by supplying ‘boozy sweets’ in large glass bowls. The sweets were in 3 flavors of cocktails and went down a storm.
Photographer
Julie Michaelsen, our lovely photographer, was actually the first person we met & we loved the way she captured the most loving moments between people. Our gorgeous photos really tell the story of the day & felt she was one of our closest friends sharing it with us not our photographer.
Colour Scheme & Flowers
For our colours & flowers we decided on blush pink, white with a pop of coral pink tones too. Pretty little vases of flowers mixed with candles for the tables were placed around the Bridesmaids white bouquets used as the centre piece to compliment the mint & gold tones of the Salon. Liz from
Blue Sky Flowers really does create the most amazing flowers a girl could ever want!
Stationery & Favours
Many of the little details for the day were made by myself, from the invitations, table names & name cards, painted flowers with gold leaf, to the wicker heart reef hanging on the door & the framed poem to greet our guests at the door, all the little touches to make our day personal & fun for our guests. Our favours were also handmade soaps, 1 for the gents and 1 for the ladies to take home as a thank-you for making it so special.
Bridesmaids
The bridesmaid dresses were designed & made by myself with a little help from my team at
ASOS, soft pink chiffon dresses with printed roses looked pretty & feminine against the Ushers tailored Navy suits, all tied in together with handmade pocket squares from the mother of the bride to match the dresses.
Groom
My groom, Ross wore a 3 piece summer Navy
Reiss suit & looked the most handsome I've ever seen him. I got him a vintage Omega pocket watch as a wedding gift which he wore proudly & finished off the suit perfectly.
The Dress
When it came to choosing my dress I didn't really know the style I wanted but knew I'd love trying on hundreds so after a few shops, I found the one at
JS Couture, the store was beautiful & made me feel like a princess before even trying on any gowns. The dress I chose from
Enzoani was elegant but glam, had the most intricate lace & the wow train I wanted for the walk down the stairs. I just knew my husband to be would love it too. I opted for a delicate pearl hair piece & simple jewellery as I felt my dress was a statement on its own.
Ceremony
Music was very important to us and we spent a long time trying to get it right. We were very lucky to have the very talented bridesmaid, Sarah, in our party! She agreed to sing our aisle song, 'How Long Will I Love You', but as a surprise to us all also convinced the other Bridesmaids to join in at the finale, so special, with not a dry eye in the house.
Entertainment
During canapés and reception drinks we wanted an acoustic double that would set an informal and fun setting. We liked their Motown Vibe and we really didn’t need to give them much direction to what we wanted which was perfect. We picked our evening band due to the energy we saw they could bring. We didn’t want a DJ so a band that could get people dancing was important. It was also important that they played songs from many genres and times to get everyone dancing. They played our first song, which was ‘You Are The Sunshine of My Life’ by Stevie Wonder.
We had the most amazing day & our friends & family were the ones who made that. The love we felt the whole day was overwhelming & was the most perfect day we could have wished for.
