Our Story
Roger and I met at the gym and later shared an office. We love walking down by the water in Chichester and out on a walk with our 6 month old baby at the time Roger proposed down on the beach at Chichester Marina. It was absolutely perfect and I loved having our daughter with us.
The Venue
Ever since I was young we've always eaten at
Jeremy's and held family parties there. The food is amazing and so are the staff and it's a 5 minute drive from Balcombe church so we asked them what days they had available that year and picked the Friday of August bank holiday. With only 6 months to plan they were amazing with every single detail. Getting married in the church is something I've always wanted as my brother is buried there and it made it so he was part of our day.
The Beauty
My make up was done at home by the lovely girls from
La Touche in Lindfield. They made me feel comfortable from my trial right through to the morning of the wedding and they couldn't do enough to ensure I was happy. My hair was done by
Jimmy Chop Chop in Crawley who came to the house and we even changed what we were going for and Amy was more than happy to work with it and created something even better than in my trial. I'd be so happy to recommend them both again.
The Photography
Vicky was chosen as she'd shot a friends wedding the previous summer at Southend Barns and we loved all of their photos and the beautiful style she created. She made us feel so comfortable on the day and was relaxed and didn't pester us for shots. She fitted in with our day perfectly and all of our guests loved our photos too. She is AMAZING.
The Dress
My dress came from
Mathilda Rose in Lindfield and was by an amazing designer called
Maggie Sottero. I wanted something different yet elegant and and easy to wear. I knew this was the one and had bought it after being in the shop just 20 minutes. My shoes were comfortable and simple and a total bargain. My mum picked them up from John Rocha in
Debenhams for £35 and I can wear them again in the summer!
The Groom
Roger had a suit from
French Connection and a shirt from
Hugo Boss and wore his favourite tan brogues from
Oliver Sweeney. He wanted to feel comfortable so didn't go with a waistcoat.
The Bridesmaids
I didn't want lots of fuss and other people to dress as I wanted to enjoy the morning with my parents and my little girl who was 14 months old when we were married. She wore a little dress with socks and shoes all from
Monsoon. She didn't get involved in walking down the aisle but I loved that she joined us throughout the ceremony and roamed the church with a family friend.
The Flowers
The church flowers were all done by my amazing mum and her friend Maria. They looked fantastic and they worked so hard to exceed my expectations. The button holes, bouquet and table flowers were all done by Church's florist in Handcross. The simple whites and greens were perfect for our summer garden wedding.
The Entertainment
We booked Chip Acoustic via
Warble Entertainment who was fantastic and he played outside whilst we had canapes and champagne. We then had Bombshell in the evening who were awesome and had everyone dancing until the end. There was my husband singing (terribly) on the mic as well as dance offs and them getting involved with the crowd. They were the highlight and got everyone going.
The weather was 28 degrees in sunny Sussex - what more could we ask for!
