It may have been Winter and there may have been a global pandemic, but nothing was stopping this bride and groom from becoming husband and wife. They looked every inch the stylish couple with the bride wowing in a Mary Benson wedding dress complete with metallic detail that she teamed with a star print beret and a cosy coat for their Newcastle elopement. Greeted by two of their best friends outside the Civic Centre, this couple knew that they didn't want to postpone thei marriage any longer, and we are so glad they didn't because how amazing and intimate is their day!
Unsure whether our August 2021 celebration would go ahead, we made the decision to do ‘the legal bit’ in December 2020 so that if we ended up postponing the big day, we’d be postponing a wedding, not a marriage. It was small, intimate and we got to spend the day with the focus being enjoying each other’s company.Sophia & Peter
We just wanted the most relaxed day we could have in the city we live in. Given the restrictions in Newcastle at the time, we were only allowed two witnesses at the Ceremony and were unable to have any form of reception, so two friends met us outside after the ceremony to wish us well as we swapped rings (which was not allowed as a part of our ceremony). The choices behind styling were based on keeping snug (Newcastle in December isn’t the warmest!) and my love of all things Art Nouveau & Art Deco.Sophia & Peter
The whole day felt like a series of favourite moments with the love of my life. Walking out after the ceremony with our two witnesses to see two of our closest friends... Taking photos down a freezing cold alleyway with an elderly lady walking past and stopping to wish us well... Eating pizza in the evening putting an apron over my wedding dress... It was an understated day, but full of favourite moments.Sophia & Peter
