The Proposal
Lucy the Bride: After being together for 5 & 1/2 years Rob finally popped the question on my 30th birthday! I had never been one of those little girls that had dreamt about her wedding day but as soon as that ring was on my finger I was hooked...
Pinterest very quickly became by best friend!!
The Dress
After recommendation from a couple of my friends I booked an appointment at
Serendipity Brides in Weedon, it was the one and only shop I visited! I really surprised myself as I am usually so indecisive but as soon as I walked in I saw 'THE' dress! I think I only tried on about 6 dresses in total but that one had my eye straight away! It was by
Maggie Sottero called 'Carmen', it was just beautiful...the perfect combination of lace and tulle in a gorgeous champagne colour! I knew I wouldn't suit anything traditionally white being so fair skinned so it was just perfect.
I treated myself to some gorgeous 'Fifi'
Christian Louboutins in nude as I wanted to buy shoes that I could wear again!
Beauty
I was undecided about how to have my hair...surprise surprise!! I left it really last minute to have a hair trial but I couldn't have been happier with how my hair turned out on the day! I decided on a lose up do to suit my gypsophila crown! Massive thanks to Lisa Bowen and Jess Bolas from
The Hair Lounge in Rugeley for doing an amazing job on myself and the bridesmaids!
The make up was done by two of my close friends, they did a fabulous job and we all felt incredible!
We wanted a relaxed, informal ceremony, so we chose Shustoke Farm Barns to get married.
Grooms Attire
Rob chose a bespoke 3 piece suit from
Moss Bros in a classic navy! It was fun helping him choose all the little extras that came with having something made.
The groomsmen also had suits from Moss Bros, we opted for just trousers, a simple white shirt and a waistcoat to make them stand out.
Bridesmaids
I searched for quite a while for my bridesmaids, I wanted them all to be comfortable and like what they were wearing so in the end I chose some gorgeous
Twobirds dresses in Rosewater, they looked beautiful! We had the ties made for the boys too so everyone matched!
Venue
We knew we wanted a venue that was relaxed and a rustic, so a barn was all we would have ever considered!! After seeing photos of an old school friends wedding we just had to visit
Shustoke Farm Barns to see if it was as amazing in real life...it really didn't disappoint! It was just stunning!!
We also like the idea of our guests not having to travel between venues so we could make the most of the celebrations by being at the same place all day! We had a civil ceremony and my friend Joanne did a beautiful reading for us 'The Future' by Emma Salmon, which she had framed for us as a wedding gift!
Colour Scheme/ Decor
We didn't have a theme or style for our decor but wanted something in keeping with the rustic country feel of the venue. I chose wooden log slices and bark vases filled with gypsophila for the centre pieces surrounded by lovely little Mercury glass tealight holders. We also hired some fab light up letters spelling out 'love' from the amazing
Penny Lane Vintage Hire!
Flowers
I just love the simplicity of gypsophila so decided on plain hand tied bouquets for the bridesmaids and for the button holes. My bouquet was a gorgeous mix of the prettiest pale pink peonies, with cream and antique roses! Lynne at
Fine Flowers in Rugeley did a fabulous job, I cried when they were delivered the morning of the wedding!!
Food
The food was amazing, we had so many compliments for weeks after the wedding! It was all done by Cripps Kitchen at Shustoke Barns. We loved that it was so informal and people could just help themselves!
Our cake was just gorgeous, my mouth still waters when I think about how delicious it was! It was made by the lovely Sam at '
A Little Touch of Luxury' in Coventry!
I knew from day one I wanted a naked cake, we chose on a 4 tier with a different flavour on each one! We had tangy lemon, mixed fruit jam and raspberry and white chocolate! She also made us a tower of macarons , they were incredible!
Ceremony
Whilst guests were arriving before the ceremony we had a good friend Simon playing the piano, we chose songs that we both loved and that weren't overly weddingy...(is that even a word?!) as we wanted a relaxed feeling! I walked down to Arctic Monkeys 'Mardy Bum' which was chosen by Rob...I have no idea why?! And we walked out to Oasis 'Whatever'!!
Entertainment
The band we hired for the evening were amazing, everyone danced non stop all night! They played a really good mix of songs to suit everyone and there wasn't a song that dance floor wasn't full for! About a month before the wedding I realised we didn't have a guest book! We hired a fab photo booth, as well as keeping people who were tired of dancing entertained it doubled up as a guest book! They printed two copies so not only did we get a book full of funny pictures and messages our guest got to keep a memento too!
Photographer
Our photographer was the lovely
Sara Lejon! From first meeting Sara I knew she would be perfect, she made us feel so comfortable and at ease, plus her work is amazing so we booked her up straight away! She was recommended to us by our friend and videographer Rory from Blue Monday, he also kindly made our amazing wedding video!
