The lovely Lizzy & Rob tied the knot at Recommended Venue, The Cherry Barn, in Rye. This couple used Rock My Wedding to help them find their incredible wedding venue that set the scene for one of the best days of their lives. With rustic styling, plenty of wildflowers and botanical decor, and sentimental personal touches throughout, this day is just gorgeous! The couple had personalised messages as favours for guests, a ceremony conducted by Rob’s godfather, and smiled all day despite the rain! If you’re looking for proof that rain or ‘bad’ weather won’t ruin your day, you’ve found it. Of course, this is all down to the incredible Recommended Supplier, Carrie Lavers Photography!
We found our ultimate supplier via Rock My Wedding…Our wedding venue, The Cherry Barn, Rye! For the rest of our suppliers, we largely trusted the carefully curated supplier list provided by Mel and Steve at The Cherry Barn. But when doing our own due diligence, we were always reassured to see the suppliers also on Rock My Wedding. For all of the suppliers we found ourselves that weren’t on the venue’s list, Rock My Wedding was our most trusted resource, for example helping us find our incredible photographer, Carrie Lavers.
Lizzy & Rob
Lizzy & Rob wanted the vibe to be chilled, fun, and intimate but super relaxed. The couple chose The Cherry Barn in Rye for their wedding venue! The barn sits in the countryside on a farm that reflects Lizzy & Rob’s personalities. There was plenty of space to roam for the 5 little flower girls and boys as well as our guests! The rustic styling was chosen to match the barn. The wildflowers were a big part of the styling too as they added lots of colour and features in every aspect! It gets better! Lizzy & Rob also included plenty of intimate touches with a large photo wall, adorned with pictures of all their loved ones. The couple made personalised name tags for all 100 guests with personalised messages for favours.
Lizzy & Rob did their research to avoid the rain. Despite 22nd July being statistically the driest day on average over the past 10 years, the couple experienced gale-force winds and torrential rain. But this just went to prove how a wedding day will be the happiest day regardless of the weather! Although plans had to be pivoted (Lizzy & Rob’s ceremony was meant to be outdoors in the woodland, but became an incredibly intimate indoor reception with a rustic botanical vibe), they felt like the torrential weather helped make the wedding even more unique and special. The rain helped keep everyone packed on the dance floor late into the night, creating an incredible atmosphere.
Lizzy & Rob had an amazing celebrant ceremony, delivered by Rob’s godfather, Nick. Nick is a natural thespian and works in the West End, so his performance really stole the show! He really went above and beyond and the couple couldn’t be more grateful. Every single guest said how great he was, and he had the whole room laughing and crying in equal measure. It really set the tone for the day, and filled the room full of love from the word go. The couple also had a beautiful wedding reading delivered by the bridesmaids. It was, Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton.
Our favourite moment of the day was our golden hour photos (as in, when the rain died down to a slight drizzle for 10 mins). We hiked off into the rain soaked muddy field with margaritas in hand. It was a ridiculous but beautiful moment, for both of us to take a breath and be together. We laughed about the weather and the events of the day so far - and our joy and love for each other is evident in every one of our photos, which we will cherish forever.
