Where do we start with Kathryne & Adam’s wedding at The West Mill? This industrial wedding had a boho autumnal theme with pretty dried flowers by Recommended Supplier, Horseshoe Flowers, and seasonal green accents. With a bridal speech, handwritten vows and handmade pieces from friends and family, Kathryne & Adam’s wedding was full of personal touches. Although, it’s fair to say that not everything went entirely to plan…a bouquet was set on fire with the bride and groom’s entrance to their wedding breakfast. Talk about getting the party started! The West Mill also commented that Kathryne & Adam’s wedding was the booziest they’d seen! With a gin bar and handmade cocktails, everyone was certainly getting merry! For their gift list, the couple chose Recommended Supplier, Prezola.
We bought a bottle of wine from a chateau in France years ago that we said we would drink on our wedding day. During the wedding breakfast, we went and stood at the top of the room, holding hands, drinking the wine and looking out at all of our guests enjoying themselves. It really was the most amazing feeling to feel the love in the room, have all of our favourite people together and just take that moment to be still and enjoy it.
Kathryne & Adam
Kathryne & Adam’s wedding had a vintage industrial feel with a few modern twists. The couple said that greenery and candles were key in adding that ambient and natural feel to the blank canvas venue. As lovers of bold colours, brick walls and historical architecture, The West Mill was the perfect setting to bring all of this together for Kathryne & Adam. The West Mill venue really encapsulated their style and wowed the wedding guests, who loved the mystery of the four floors and seeing what was next. The couple wanted something bold that also lent itself to rich autumnal colours, as that is the bride's favourite season! It was also important that when guests walked in, they could feel Kathryne & Adam’s unique stamp on the decor. The newlyweds loved the whole process of planning and adding what felt like them into each part of it.
When asked to describe their day, Kathryne & Adam said it was, “FUN, relaxed and full of love”. The couple decided to change tradition slightly with handwritten vows and a bridal speech. They had two wedding readings, Union by Robert Fulghum and All I Know About Love by Neil Gaiman. There was also a slight mishap with a bouquet fire when coming into the wedding breakfast! Well, that’s certainly one way to take the heat off those doing speeches! It was also the booziest wedding seen by The West Mill with a 50-strong gin bar, handmade cocktails by the groom and enough wine to ensure that everyone was tipsy on the dancefloor! The couple also added personal touches through decor and details. They had a number of custom-made pieces from friend’s and family's talented small businesses. Kathryne & Adam truly felt like it was the best day ever!
It sounds cheesy, but enjoy the process of planning and putting your touches on the day to make it special and unique to you. Once you have dropped everything off for the big day, leave your worries at the door! If it didn't get done, then it doesn't matter - the most important part is that you both enjoy yourselves and enjoy being with the people you love. Also, make sure you and your partner take a moment together to take it all in!
