What made Jess & Tom’s day unique at Recommended Venue, Shustoke Barns, was making sure it felt authentic to them and the things they love. The couple did a lot of the decision-making and planning process together to make sure the day truly reflected them both so well! They also had a visit from their little sausage dog, Dexter, who stole the show and went around all of the guests for belly rubs (as he should!). With a modern classic vibe, minimalist decor and styling along with cute pics of their pet, this wedding is one we had to share. The day was captured by Recommended Supplier, Lee Daniels Photography.
Seeing each other at the altar was really special! We both got emotional seeing each other for the first time, full of nerves and excitement! It’s a moment we will always remember. Our other favourite part of the day was our first dance. We danced to some of the song just us two but invited our guests to join in and the feeling of being surrounded by everyone we love in that moment was amazing!
Jess & Tom
Jess & Tom wanted their day to feel classic and effortless. They wanted it all to feel really welcoming for their guests. Jess & Tom both love the minimalist vibe and were drawn to neutral colour palettes for their day. The wedding stylist got to know the couple by asking questions about how the couple met, their lives, and places of significance. This ensured the wedding day was totally built around everything Jess & Tom’s love story and the things they love. The initial inspiration behind the styling was the couple’s love of the Cotswolds. It’s one of their favourite places to be and they have lots of happy memories there. The cake was made to look like stone and the table numbers were made out of light-coloured stone which was a nod to Cotswold stone and tied in beautifully!
It’s often the little details in a wedding that mean the most. To make the wedding feel even more personal, the couple did a few DIY bits. Jess learnt how to do calligraphy while Tom also got handy with a glue gun to make wax melts for the envelopes. Jess also made the bridesmaids a handkerchief where she embroidered their names and the wedding date as a nice keepsake. Jess sadly lost her mum a while back and it was important to Jess to make sure her memory could be felt on the day. Jess had her mum’s handwriting embroidered on the ribbon she wore in her hair on the evening created by the brilliant Recommended Supplier, Rebecca Anne Designs. Jess also wore her favourite perfume on the day and had photos of her around the venue on the day as well.
Don’t panic about the small stuff. In the planning process, it’s very easy to get hung up on the small things but if something doesn’t go as planned or isn’t exactly what you want on the day you’ll honestly be so happy you may barely notice, and your guests certainly won’t! We’d also say to try and make the planning process fun! For example, we sorted out all our song choices whilst we were sitting outside in the garden on a sunny day with a drink in hand, which was really fun and something that we’ll remember.
