rustic wedding at Wilde Lodge for gay couple

Rustic Outdoor Wedding At Wilde Lodge

Photography by Leonie May Photography

Jack & Daniel were destined to be together with those names! Jack & Daniel spent 5 whole days celebrating their wedding at Recommended Venue, Wilde Lodge, in Wales. Keeping things intimate and personal was the theme of the wedding for this couple. A close friend conducted their ceremony, their fur baby was the ring bearer, they had an audio guest book from Recommended Supplier, Audio Guest Book, the venue was decorated with meaningful photos, AND the couple got involved in some DIY. The whole 5 days were all about the details and we have the absolute honour of sharing them all with you. The couple also chose Recommended Supplier, Prezola, for their gift list.

There were plenty of monumental efforts made for our wedding by countless people, but here are two examples. Jack's mum individually cut over 100 Mexican-style bunting sheets. This was an amazing addition to the decor. Leonie May was our photographer. From the moment we spoke to her, we knew she was the one. She managed to relax us on the day, and when the photos came back we were blown away. It was like having another friend at the wedding! She managed to get a preview selection of photos to us the next day.

Wilde Lodge Wedding

Jack & Daniel stayed at their wedding venue, Wilde Lodge, from Friday to Tuesday with a lot of guests staying for the duration in bell tents. Having time to greet most guests before the actual wedding helped calm the nerves for the ceremony and gave the couple time to speak to everyone. Jack & Daniel had a vintage telephone audio guest book. It records a voicemail every time the receiver picks up so guests can leave sentimental messages to the couple. The couple dressed the venue with meaningful photos to create an intimate and personal space. Jack's parents grew seasonal flowers and grasses, which they arranged for the reception in a minimalist style on the tables. Jack & Daniel gave navy blue, dark orange and bright yellow pocket squares to each wedding party member. Some guests repurposed these into hairbands, neckties and corsages!

Outdoor Wedding Ceremony

A close friend conducted Jack & Daniel’s wedding ceremony. He planned it perfectly, making both the couple and the guests feel instantly at ease. He catered the ceremony to Jack & Daniel’s individual personalities, which made it so special. The couple were lucky with the weather, so once the organised fun was finished, everyone relaxed on comfy outdoor furniture illuminated by several fire pits. The atmosphere was electric and it meant so much to Jack & Daniel to look around and see friends and family from different places looking so happy together. Jack & Daniel’s guest of honour though was their fur baby, Walter. Walter really stole the show during the ceremony. He was a beautiful ring bearer, and with some assistance from Daniel's dad, bounded down the aisle right on cue and with no training! The reactions from our guests were priceless!

We researched, discussed and signed off on each component of the wedding together. It was great to feel like we had both been across the decision-making. However, if you can divide, conquer and let go of some of the responsibility, it might be easier in the long run. Your guests will be happy to have a drink and celebrate with you. Anything you can do above that is more than what's necessary.
