What Made Your Day Unique
"We both really dislike anything too formal so our main goal was to keep things casual, simple and fun. We didn’t want to go with usual traditions because we wanted our day to be remembered by everyone. We had clay pigeon shooting and hammershlagen as entertainment, an incredible DJ who pulled out all the stops and fireworks to finish the night off. The food was more art than anything, we had incredible courses that celebrated the local produce - dessert was gelato produced by our best mans dairy farm served in a vintage ice cream bike cart. My favourite part of the day has to be the evening when our DJ arrived. They asked for the songs we would like and what sort of vibe we were going for and Jack the DJ heard us perfectly and put on the best party ever. Everyone was dancing and we also had a Sax player who just took it to another level. People were dancing on tables and the drinks were flowing- a sign of a good night if you ask me!"Bertie & Paul
Hobbit Hill was the perfect wedding venue option for this outdoor-loving couple, with stunning views overlooking the River Ribble and beyond. In keeping with their relaxed, country wedding style the couple opted for clay pigeon shooting for their entertainment along with hammershlagen, which is a competition in which guests compete against each other to drive nails into a wooden log. The couples beloved dogs also joined them for the celebrations and created some beautiful moments in the countryside together, their love for these animals radiated when they joined the wedding at the end of the day. Bowland Marquees provided the marquee for the evening reception, which the couple decorated with beautiful foliage and fairy lights, the flowers by Bluebells and Daisies were simply beautiful.
Inspiration & Styling
"The main vibe was relaxed, country wedding, happy guests, party/festival feel where everyone could let their hair down, eat drink and be merry in a dreamy location gazing across hazy fields enjoying the beautiful area we live in. We asked guests to dress in summer suits/ smart casual- blazers and chinos and don’t worry about a hat! Paul and I had been to many weddings where we just felt frumpy and uncomfortable all day. We just wanted our guests to be as chilled, happy and comfortable as we were. We spend most of our days outside so we knew an outdoor wedding was perfect for us."Bertie & Paul
Advice
"Just do you! Don’t ever feel like you have to follow tradition. You are planning your wedding- invite who you want and do what you like. Don’t let anyone tell you what you should do unless you asked for their opinion. The best advice I got was from my suppliers, remember these guys live and breathe weddings, they know what works and what doesn’t. Try not to sweat the small stuff- I was so wrapped up in little things however when it came to my big day nothing phased me - you just love the day no matter what happened. I was looking at the weather report constantly in the weeks before my wedding thinking that if it rained my day would be ruined and everything was over. It rained the morning of my wedding but I was enjoying getting ready at home so much it didn’t even bother me. The weather then cleared and we had gorgeous sunshine for the rest of the day!"Bertie & Paul
