When should you pack for your honeymoon?

You can start packing for your honeymoon days or even weeks ahead of your departure date. It’s entirely up to you! Before packing, however, you should make use of our packing checklist below! The earlier you start packing, the more time you’ll have to purchase any additional items you may be missing for your trip, so in our eyes, you can never be too prepared. It’s always better to get this sorted when you’re not right in the thick of wedding planning stress.

Honeymoon Packing Tips

As well as using our packing list above, you can also use these tips to make sure you pack as efficiently as you can. We've also included a few extra suggestions that we don't go without for any holiday abroad.

 1. Don’t Overpack

Use our checklist above to help you stick to the necessary items. As nice as it might feel to take all your home comforts with you, we doubt you’ll actually reach for them at all. Try breaking our checklist down further by deciding what items you’ll have in your carry-on and what you’ll put in the checked luggage.

 2. Plan Your Outfits Beforehand

This is really helpful in limiting overpacking. Again, although you’d love to wear those shoes, you know they don’t actually go with any of the outfits you’ve packed. Plan your outfits down to the accessories you’d pair with them and try them on beforehand. Make sure you feel stylish and comfortable in all your outfits. Then, pack one or two extra outfits as a backup just in case.

 3. Limit Bulky Items

Are you a book lover? Sorry, there’s likely only room for one or two books. This is when your Kindle or e-reader device really will come in handy. The same goes for shoes, hair styling tools or anything else that doesn’t roll or fold down.

 4. Packing Cubes

These aren't for everyone, but packing cubes can help you manage the organised chaos of your suitcase. These are such a saving grace especially when you're packing to come home. When you really just want to throw everything in and be done with it, packing cubes help you feel like you've made a bit more of an effort.

 5. Digital and Paper Copies of Legal Documents/Tickets

This is the most important thing besides your passport and ID. You need to make sure you have paper copies as well as digital copies just in case things don’t download properly or there’s no wifi or mobile data where you’re travelling. You can never go wrong with paper copies. Enter the ultimate airport dad mode.

 6. Leave Essential Information with Loved Ones

Another really important thing to do before you leave on your honeymoon is to ensure you’ve left all essential information like your flight information, hotel information and copy of any travel documents with someone you trust. It’ll probably give your family at home peace of mind knowing all the info anyway. No unwanted calls from Mum while you’re away in your love bubble.

 7. Weigh Your Luggage

Make sure to weigh your luggage before you set off! This saves a lot of stress at the airport when you should be in total relaxation mode when you step out the door.

 8. Get A VPN

Another handy tip is to get a VPN. This isn’t something essential but it can be helpful in keeping you safer when online abroad. All your online data will be encrypted. This protects your usernames, passwords, credit card numbers, browser cookies, and other identifying information from being stolen should you access the internet in an unfamiliar setting. Plus, if you’re going away just as Love Island is starting in the UK, you can still tune in by using a VPN!
