Drag Queen Wedding Entertainment at Compton Verney

Photography by Liam And Bee Crawley

Oh, you know we’re all about the drag queen wedding entertainment. Will and Joe were married at Compton Verney House, complete with drag bingo, and clean, natural styling. Their day came after the final restrictions of Covid were lifted, meaning spirits were high and people were ready to party! We love the idea of letting a venue speak for itself, and this beautiful 18th-century building does just that. The minimalistic styling works perfectly alongside the art gallery and cool interior of the room. Of course, the grooms are looking seriously dapper in their suits.

We chose our suppliers based on whose work we loved. And we did nothing by halves and made sure to find the best suppliers in every aspect. We were so happy with how hard each supplier worked to make sure we had the best day.

ADVICE

Our advice for couples planning their wedding would be to really think about details. Elevating elements such as cutlery, signage and invitation paper stock really makes the event feel special. We were really careful to ensure the day felt like it had a distinctive identity. Also - give your wedding party freedom to find their own identities in what they wear. They're your friends, and you want them to feel comfortable and confident!

STYLING

Our styling was clean and natural. We didn't want to detract from the 18th-century architecture of Compton Verney House and the artwork, so neutral colours and natural materials were really important to us. We knew we wanted a lot of florals, but kept the overall palette restricted as the venue had a lot of areas and this helped us to ensure the styling flowed well between spaces.

Our favourite moment was our friend Fatt Butcher descending down the chapel steps, singing Madonna's Like A Prayer. Having Drag Bingo between the wedding breakfast and evening celebrations helped us to close the formal half of the day and was a great surprise for our guests.
