Custom bridesmaid dresses created by the bride? Yep, you know it’s going to be good. Ella & Seán’s day was almost an entirely handmade affair, and we’re loving every inch of it. From designing her own wedding gown, to William Morris napkins cut up from curtains, Ella truly left no stone unturned in the world of wedding DIY. Wanting a relaxed and calm day, the style choices and colour scheme reflected this wish. We just can’t get enough of this ethereal bride and her incredible talents over at Ella Grace Seamstress! Not to mention Recommended Suppliers, The Wedding Shop, providing their Gift List - this couple has serious taste…
There was never a question as to who would be making my dress - me! And, because I’m barmy, I designed and made all the bridesmaids outfits too! For their outfits, my love of sunflowers inspired their golden colour choice, each design unique to each gal.

At our very first wedding fair we found our photographer, who we made an instant connection with! Our cake creator was an old colleague of mine who is a man of many skills and an incredible baking artist. For our florist and musician, we trawled Instagram and we struck gold! Eloise from garage florals created such a beautifully wild, colourful crown and bouquet, as well as table decor. She made me feel like a flower goddess. And Thom - our musician - was just spectacular. He drew everyone to the dance floor and even got me to duet with him.
The standout moment for us was the journey from ceremony venue to Home Park. We took our guests on a merry walk through Kingston town and over the bridge, waving yellow and white ribbon wands as we walked. Passers by and drivers congratulated us and beeped their horns… we felt like royalty. This moment was so surreal that it felt like it went by in slow motion. It was so unique and we didn’t plan or expect the reaction that we received - nor did the groom expect a free Mr whippy when passing an ice cream van!
The biggest thing we learnt through planning a wedding (multiple times) through the struggles of covid, is that stripping it back to its purest elements still created the perfect day. In the end, we didn’t feel like we missed out by cutting down on the bells and whistles, because all that mattered is that we had our family and friends there to celebrate with us. We found alternatives to the things we wanted, like ice creams in a cool bag from the supermarket rather than the fancy supplier we originally booked for wedding version 1! It's about getting creative!
