VISION
English Country Garden with a modern twist was the inspiration behind this shoot. The idea for the shoot was influenced by my love of nature-filled, stylish and chic weddings.
PLANNING & STYLING
"The venue, Downham Hall is a beautiful country house which offers elegant gardens that welcomed themselves to this style. There were 3 main elements to the shoot (ceremony, cake display, tablescape) two of which were created in the grounds of the venue while the tablescape was brought to life in the Orangery, which gave the feeling of bringing the outside in due to its light and bright nature. The ceremony was set up by the venue’s moat between two trees, this gave a beautiful background to the hexagon backdrop that was dressed with two floral arrangements on opposite corners. The aisle chairs were then dressed with pampas grass and the front row with two large glass vases with a eucalyptus and pampas arrangement. Rachael from Eatonville Calligraphy created a bespoke collection of handwritten place cards, menus and a gorgeous gold welcome sign. These tied into the tablescape colours beautifully and brought the whole look together. The welcome sign was cradled by a pampas, hydrangea and foliage arrangement by Victoria of Simply Stunning Flowers which was in symmetry to the overflowing centrepiece urn which was created using White Hydrangeas, Astrantia, Pampas Grass, Honesty, Waxflower and a mix of Eucalyptus and Ferns. Pampas grass featured throughout the shoot and was a highlighted element in the bouquet, aisle decor and cake display. It was the main inspiration in the floral design and allowed a modern twist to the classic arrangements." - Aimee Orwell
PROPS & FURNITURE
"As well as the hexagon and triangle backdrops Victoria of Party Squared provided a gorgeous prop selection which included the cake plinths and stands, neutral linen napkins and brass candlestick holders. Her work is stunning and she is able to piece together some amazing arrangements. The styling of the cake display is one of the standout areas of the shoot and includes a beautifully modern and simplistic 4 tier white cake with dusky pink ribbon and foliage arrangement by Pink Face Cakes. The cake display gives a rustic boho look with the muted colour scheme and wooden accessories. The grey runner compliments the display wonderfully and softens the look for a romantic touch. The wooden table and chairs were provided by The Wooden Bench Company, their amazing furniture helped create a rustic yet modern feel to the ceremony and the tablescape. By using the grey velvet Louis chairs in the Orangery it added an element of luxury and tied everything together. The chairs paired perfectly with the grey silk runner and worked wonderfully with the rest of the room." - Aimee Orwell
