Long Sleeved Dress By Calla Blanche
Hannah & Rich: Having lived in London for 15 years I’d always travelled past the
Morgan Davies Bridal and thought if I was ever popped the question, it would be the first Bridal shop I would visit! Luckily for me Richard proposed in October 2017 so I booked myself an appointment! I tried various different styles of dresses but the lace, long sleeves, backless style and detailed neck line felt like it was the perfect dress for me. The dress is by the designer
Calla Blanche. We added a veil for the church and back jewellery for the evening, both sourced by the Morgan Davies Bridal Shop. My shoes were from
Charlotte Mills and I chose
Monica Vinader earrings to wear on the day. The engagement and wedding rings were made by a friend who works out of a small workshop in Hatton Garden; Trevor of T H Jewellery.
Moss Bros. Hire
I had in mind matching blue suits for myself and the groomsmen and the Ted Baker suits that
Moss Brothers hire out were perfect. I’m a big fan of a bow tie and
Le Colonel Moutarde who have loads of amazing ties and materials and they custom make them all. As it was a late spring/early summer wedding I wanted something flowery and colourful - the final choice was a Liberty’s fabric with matching pocket squares. My shoes were from English shoe maker
Joseph Cheaney.
The Ceremony
St. Peter’s Church de Beauvoir was halfway between where we both lived in East London for 4 years so it felt right to get married there. The Vicar is an amazing lady so it all made sense to get married at this church! We were very fortunate to have our friend Greg play the cello for the arrival of the bridal party and we arranged for the
East London Chorus to sing during the signing of the register which was so beautiful.
We had two readings during the ceremony; Hannah’s Brother read Love is a Temporary Madness from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin and one of the Bridesmaids read Love Is the Greatest. 1 Corinthians Chapter 13. We celebrated the marriage by leaving the church to Stevie Wonder’s ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’ which was fun!
Clapton Country Club
We held our reception at
Clapton Country Club. It’s only two miles from the church and was big enough to accommodate our 120 day guests and 170 for the late night dancing! Having the celebration in one room was something we looked for to keep the party atmosphere going into the night! We were very lucky with the weather so guests were able to relax on the terrace at the front of the venue. Clapton Country Club provided the wedding breakfast and we decided upon sharing platters for the starter, main course and dessert. It worked really well, especially with the long tables.
The Travel
We travelled to the reception venue in two
London Routemaster buses. It was a fun way to get everyone to the reception venue and a different experience for guests who were visitors to London.
The Cake
Our cake was designed and made by our amazing friend Selina who runs
The Glorious Bakery. The cake layers were vanilla sponge with fresh cream and raspberries, ginger and Guinness (people’s favourite!) and lemon sponge – it was absolutely delicious.
