What Made Our Day Unique

We chose 14th March 2019 as our wedding day as this marked the 10th anniversary that we first got together having met at school. Having both grown up in Birmingham, not many people can say they got to marry their best friend in a Napoleonic fort, with a panoramic view of the gorgeous Cornish coastline! Hand-on-heart; our wedding was so ‘us’. Every aspect included on our day had a special meaning behind it. Despite planning these little details, we were so relaxed on the day and I think we can agree that this vibe was felt by everybody who attended.

Bridal Separates

Lousie was torn between two beautiful wedding dresses in two different bridal boutiques but eventually made her decision to choose her gorgeous Catherine Deane bridal separates, consisting of the Jessica Bodysuit and Anika Skirt when she heard an old song that James and she used to love when they were just 15 years old (Bloc Party – This Modern Love) playing in the background of the boutique. If that isn't destiny, then I don't know what is. Also, she looks absolutely stunning in it, the illusion neck and long sleeves are making me weak at the knees. What a beauty.

Inspiration & Styling

We have always adored being beside the sea; there is something so calming and peaceful about watching the waves crash against the shore. We wanted this chilled vibe to be reflected throughout our day with a big emphasis on food! We had buckets of beer and chose sharing boards, Cornish pasties and cream tea instead of a formal sit-down dinner. We opted for lots of greenery with some nautical touches, such as rope and pebble name settings, as an ode to our seaside venue. We added lots of subtle and personal touches with old photographs from over the last 10 years.

Our advice would be to choose exactly what YOU both want from the day rather than worrying about everybody else’s opinions. One of the best things we did was keep most of the details (including food, cake, music etc) under wraps – even from our parents! Firstly, this meant that our choices were a true reflection of what we wanted from our day and secondly, this made everything a nice surprise for our guests! We absolutely LOVE this advice from Louise and James, If you can't march to the beat of your own drum on your wedding day, when can you?! We talk about this and more on our Comparison Is The Thief Of Self Worth Podcast, definitely worth a listen, right?!
