The vibe Bethan & John tried to create for their wedding day at Recommended Venue, 100 Barrington, was retro city chic, fun, and casual! The inspiration for the wedding styling came from Bethan & John’s engagement. The couple got engaged in Italy so they wanted to bring a bit of that retro Italian glamour to the day! The groom and groomsmen wore timeless black tuxedos and, at the cocktail hour, they served Aperol spritz and limoncello shots with Mediterranean food. Bethan & John brought a piece of Italy to Brixton and we’re here for it! We’re obsessed with those pops of sage green in the stationery and signage by Recommended Supplier, Papier! This beautiful day was captured by the incredible Recommended Supplier, Caitlin & Jones!
Bethan: The most meaningful moments were the ceremony, speeches and our personal vows. We had speeches from my best friend, my dad, John and the best man, which all made us laugh and cry. I raised a toast for my brother who passed away 5 years ago and I’m so glad we got to bring his memory into the day.
John: If I had to choose a favourite moment, it would be seeing Bethan walk down the aisle - I've never seen her pulling that face before! So excited and nervous.

For Bethan & John’s wedding at 100 Barrington, the vibe was retro, fun, city chic, or as we like to say, vintage glam! The black tie wedding fashion and neutral colour palette give the wedding a classic and timeless feel. Whereas the pop of colour in the wedding stationery and flowers and the stunning short wedding reception dress add to the fun and retro vibe. It was the best of both worlds! Bethan recommends making a Pinterest board to help stick with your vision. Sharing this with your wedding suppliers can also help them understand what you’re expecting.
Bethan & John legally married the week before at Marylebone Town Hall in London, so this meant they could make the ceremony at 100 Barrington super personal. Bethan & John’s brother-in-law conducted the ceremony. He interviewed the couple separately and told the story of how they met from each of their perspectives. So cute! He had also arranged for some of their closest friends to give little quotes where everyone laughed and cried. John's great auntie Marie read, I Will Be Here by Steven Curtis Chapman' and Bethan’s sister read, Maybe by Anon.
