August 2020 Wedding with Social Distancing Signs and Dried Flowers

Photography by Darina Stoda Photography
Becca and Tom went ahead with their originally planned August 2020 wedding date but adapted their day to reflect the current government guidelines. They learnt that "big isn't always better". And, only being able to have a limited number of people meant they could talk to their guests and really enjoy their day and time with them. Even though the wedding was scaled down, the attention to detail is incredible. From Becca's stunning Galia Lahav wedding dress, through to the social distance signs and impressive floral arrangements, Darina Stoda Photography has captured them all and you're going to love it! Not to mention all the emotion that these two boho babes were able to get married.

What Made Our Day Unique

Given the current pandemic we had to get imaginative with our day to try and get as much out of it as we could. We had to change our plans drastically but were very fortunate that we were having the wedding reception in Toms parents garden. The best thing about this is we had a blank canvas to work with. We worked very closely with all the suppliers to get a very personal experience. We worked around the number of limitations by having different people come to different parts of the day.

Favourite Moments

Due to the current circumstances we were only allowed 30 people in the church. Lots of our family and friends who were meant to attend but couldn't still come to the church. It was so nice walking out of the church together to see all of these people in the churchyard, it felt like they were part of our special day! Another favourite memory was the fact we were able to have a tasting menu for our wedding breakfast as we were only allowed limited numbers.

August 2020 Wedding

Becca and Tom went ahead with their August 2020 wedding, because they couldn't wait to be married. With the help of The Little Lending Company and Floral Sistas they adapted their original plans to have a scaled-down version of their wedding. They put their full trust in their suppliers and couldn't have wished for a more perfect day. I mean, the results are amazing, right?! Hosting the wedding at Tom's parents home meant they could have their dogs Ralphie and Reggie attend, which luckily don't have to be included in your headcount. Will you be inviting your furry friend? We love seeing dogs at weddings, especially when they wear pretty floral collars.

Inspiration & Styling

We wanted a very relaxed vibe! We always planned to have a marquee reception, as we felt we could make it very unique and personal to us as its a blank canvas. We wanted a boho/country feel with lots of flowers and dry elements. We chose blue tones as this referenced Tom's football team. When planning our wedding we wanted guests to spend lots of time outside so we worked with Penny from The Little Lending Company to create spaces outside using her furniture and ideas etc. We just wanted everyone to have a good time!

Wedding Suppliers

We had seen lots of suppliers on Instagram as soon as we were engaged we started to follow lots of suppliers on social media. We knew we wanted Floral Sistas and The Little Lending company before we were even engaged, their amazing work popped up on my feed a lot! Through Instagram and recommendations we found Darina and as soon as we saw her work we got in contact with her. We went to a couple of wedding events as well which helped us. We were unable to use all the suppliers we had planned due to COVID, but are looking forward to working with them for our celebration in two years time.

Advice

We had to be very adapatble due to the pandemic lots of our original plans had to be changed but we tried to create a mini version of what we had planned. What we learnt is 'Big isn't always better'. Only having a limited number of people meant we could enjoy our day and we didn't feel we were letting people down because we couldn't talk to them.
