Askham Hall Wedding In Cumbria With Fairy Light Canopy & Neon Signs

It was love at first sight, not just for the bride and groom, but when this couple saw Askham Hall wedding venue in Cumbria they knew it was the one. The church ceremony was followed by drinks on the lawn and a beautifully classic reception with a fun edge including neon signs, hanging foliage, rustic tree slices and DIY gold cork name place holders (which required a lot of bottles of fizz to be drunk in the run-up to the big day, but friends and family were, of course, on hand to help with this!). And all this was beautifully captured by Darina Stoda Photography, who the bride had fallen in love with when she saw a friend's wedding album, following her on Instagram since there was no question who would be this couple's first choice for their big day!

"Askham Hall "had us at hello", with its's unique, timeless and stylish charm and I feel that's what made the day feel so special and personal. We are so fortunate to have family and friends talented enough to produce our wedding cake, favours and even end the night with a piano rendition of coolio's gangsta's paradise! The wedding day was full of giggles, happy tears, silliness and much dancing and the photos attest to this perfectly. Askham Hall Wedding

Having originally thought they wanted to get married in Italy, where the groom had lived previously, it would take something pretty special to sway them and that's exactly what happened when they saw Askham Hall wedding venue. So, as the couples said their vows in the beautiful venue in Cumbria, 'Italia' became the running theme for the day - or should we say weekend as they made sure they had exclusive use of the venue from Friday through to the Sunday, plenty of time to enjoy with family and friends!

 

INSPIRATION & STYLING

"The vibe was relaxed but elegant which is thankfully exactly how I felt on the day! We had originally planned to marry in Italy, which is where Jon lived for several years but as soon as we visited Askham Hall our heads were turned! We, therefore, used 'Italia' as an influence for our wedding theme incorporating lots of foliage, olive greens and sumptuous golds into our scheme. My vision was to go for something classical, timeless, natural but modern at the same time." - Amy & Jon
