Ashleigh & Nick’s wedding day can be described as a sophisticated London party! The couple were committed to planning a wedding celebration that represented them. They only incorporated traditional elements that were important to them. There were no table favours, no cake, no first dance, and no matching suits or buttonholes for groomsmen. Instead, there were three best women instead of bridesmaids, who all wore their own clothes. Ashleigh & Nick tied the knot at St. Paul’s Cathedral before heading over to Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen for their wedding breakfast and reception. Priorities for this gorgeous couple included the quality of catering, music and overflowing glasses and at Bread Street Kitchen, that’s exactly what they got! The whole beautiful day was captured by Recommended Supplier, Bowl of Corks Photography. The couple also chose Recommended Supplier, Prezola, for their wedding gift list.
Highlights were definitely the excitement and anticipation of the wedding. We spent the evening before with many of our loved ones (congregating at a pub which had a lovely view of the sun setting over St Paul’s), waking up together and going for a run across Millennium Bridge on the morning of, getting ready with our respective best friends and families, the elation of meeting each other at the end of the aisle, and looking back at the congregation of all of our favourite people cheering and applauding us during the ceremony, drinking champagne in the black cab on the way to our drinks reception and the speeches!
Ashleigh & Nick
Ashleigh & Nick wanted a modern and sophisticated but no-fuss wedding day. The couple wanted everything to be easy, delicious and of fantastic quality for their guests, so setting the wedding breakfast at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant guarantees all of that! Ashleigh & Nick felt more comfortable thinking of themselves as the hosts of a brilliant party rather than as a more traditional bride and groom. Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen played the couple’s playlist during the evening reception, which included lots of Van Morrison. For the reception, the Brixton Chamber Orchestra Street Band (7/8-piece brass ensemble with a singer/rapper) lifted the energy for a brilliant transition from the dinner to the party.
Ashleigh chose a Spanish wedding dress atelier (it was the first and only designer she tried). Ashleigh loved the classic but slightly more relaxed style of the dresses by the Spanish designer. The process of having the dress made bespoke and a final fitting at the Barcelona workshop was very special and exciting for her. The bride made so many beautiful memories with her mum and best women out in the Barcelona sun. Ashleigh & Nick also had their wedding bands made bespoke in Sheffield (where we met), which was another personal touch we just love about this day. The wedding bands were made using gold gifted from each of the couple’s respective grandmothers, which they will treasure always.
Weddings are uniquely personal and all weddings are brilliant and joyful. I would encourage couples not to spend too much time worrying about the decisions they have made. Think about what kind of day you want (not what others might expect), do your research and then trust your gut. The planning can feel intense at times - try and establish productive ways of communicating and allocating tasks; then find pleasure in all of the exciting milestones along the way!
Ashleigh & Nick
We’re just obsessed with Ashleigh’s whole bridal look. Her bespoke wedding dress is so beautiful and matches the modern London vibes perfectly. It’s her pearl bridal crown we love even more though! It’s the perfect accessory. For some more inspiration, head to our roundup of bridal crowns! During their ceremony, Ashleigh & Nick also had two wedding readings. One was Song of Solomon 8:6-7 and the other was an extract from Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton (some of our fave readings!).
