The inspiration for Amy & Callum’s wedding was things they loved. One of those things was music. With ticket-style wedding invitations, vinyl record wedding table names, and custom banner signs with lyrics from their fave songs, this wedding was like attending a mini-concert. Amy’s day job is actually a wedding stationer! She is the genius behind Recommended Supplier, The Rock N Roll Souls! The couple also chose Recommended Supplier, Prezola, for their gift list. The couple tied the knot at Social on Humber Street with Amy wearing a stunning sparkly sequin wedding dress from ASOS and the groom in a purple and black checkered wedding suit also from ASOS. Not only did the couple go bold with their wedding fashion but the decor was striking too! Amy & Callum chose disco balls, pink streamers, and retro vinyl lettering across the venue. Take a look…
Our aim for the day was basically to make it fun and not formal, we had nicknamed the day 'Calamity Wedding' as a play on our names and because something normally goes wrong, so we had this on our invites and on-the-day stationery (all designed by Amy aka The Rock 'n' Roll Souls)!
Amy & Callum
Before the wedding, Amy & Callum made their own candles in beer cans to have on all the tables, these had lyrics on them and a QR code to a photo challenge where guests could upload their photos throughout the day. Amy & Callum also changed one of the beer taps to a personalised design and used the ‘Calamity Wedding’ branding on the fish-eye which was a simple but effective way of adding personality to the day. Most importantly, the parts of the wedding that felt the most personal were thanks to the incredible suppliers. The couple wanted to support local businesses and they did an amazing job at creating the wedding that Amy & Callum had always dreamed of.
We asked Amy & Callum what advice they’d give to other couples currently planning their wedding day, “Our biggest advice is just to do what you want to do, don't think about what family members will think of your plans, your outfit, the music you play or anything like that. Invite who you want to be there, it's your day, not theirs. Also, don't stress about things you can't control, guests might not show last minute, and DIY decor might not look exactly how you wanted it, but no one other than you will know that, if it rains, it rains. Oh, and make sure your photographer is right for you, ours was literally like having a friend there who managed to capture some epic shots we are obsessed with.”
Amy & Callum wanted their day to be one big party! Guests dressed in jazzy shirts, sequins and Doc Martens because the couple didn't want a formal affair. Other than having family and close friends with assigned seating, they opted out of a formal seating plan and had a fish n chip van for dinner so guests could go and grab their meal. Amy & Callum included elements of their favourite things throughout the day, and one of those is their love of music. The couple said their vows on a stage, their stationery and signage had quotes from their favourite shows like ‘Peep Show’ and ‘Alan Partridge’, and some of their fave lyrics too. The couple’s table names were vinyl records and Amy also added vinyl lettering to pumpkins scattered across the venue (perfect for an October wedding). Amy & Callum had some fun designing tattoos for their temp tattoo station, which went down a storm! Disco balls and streamers added to the party vibe. Plus, with the couple being crisp fiends we decided a crisp wall was essential and was a real hit on the day.
In between our legal ceremony and all the guests arriving at the reception venue, Dan, our photographer took us all around the scenic spots of the city to take photos, it was absolutely pouring it down which somehow made it more fun, despite all the puddles and wet shoes. We'd like to give a massive thank you to our photographer who just got the exact vibe we wanted, to our venue's team who went above and beyond to help get our vision right and to Luna Moon Events whose streamers elevated the decor to another level.
