The Wedding
From Liz Linkleter, Owner & Creative Director, Liz Linkleter Events:We originally met Amanda and Adam to discuss their wedding for the following year. When they came back to us to say they needed to bring it forward to a date just 8 weeks away, it was a big ask – but of course we rose to the challenge. I can now firmly say that anything is possible and having a year or more to plan a wedding now feels like a treat! It was intense but wonderful and I’m so delighted we were able to give them the wedding day of their dreams.
The Styling
When designing their day, we knew we wanted to keep things classically elegant and timeless, but always stylish. The couple have a love of old-school Hollywood glamour and history, so traditional elements were important, but always with a contemporary appeal. The venue was the beautiful gardens of the groom’s family home in Surrey – the perfect setting for an elegantly understated English country wedding. Our colour palette included soft peaches, pinks and creams, with accents of gold, amber and navy.
We wanted to create a relaxed and atmospheric garden party feel, with plenty of garden furniture, picnic rugs and cushions for people to chill out on, and a separate lounge tent too. Palais Flowers created beautiful, full and romantic florals, including hanging foliage crowns to go alongside the chandeliers in the marquee.
The Ceremony
The couple married in the local church, where Amanda’s daughters sang ‘Ave Maria’ as she walked down the aisle – a spine-tingling moment! Afterwards guests headed to the house, where we held the drinks reception on the lawns accompanied by a string quartet, with the wedding breakfast to follow in the canvas marquee. As darkness fell, we lit the gardens with magical sparkling lights and flaming torches. The dancing that followed carried on late into the night, punctuated by a surprise fireworks display.
