A Coppermine Love Story

When we share styled content on RMW, we try to chose things that are really inspiring and different. Things that although you may not want to recreate in their entirety for your big day - they make you rethink your approach. When Jo Bradbury sent this shoot over, I just knew it was something that would really stand out in a sea of pastels and velvet. The Coppermines Cottages acted as inspiration for the whole shoot and it's clear to see why - it's an awe inspiring location. I promise you that's the Lake District, not somewhere remote and far flung. The whole team have really pulled together to create something that is incredible cohesive and stylish. I really hope you enjoy it as much as I have... The Inspiration

Jo The Photographer: I have always loved those beautiful American boho mountain weddings that frequent the wedding blogs and I was determined to shoot something in a similar style, something with a bit of an American Settler/mid west/mountain look. The Coppermine Mountain Cottages (wedding venue) just above Coniston have this in abundance, nestled next to the old Coppermine and amongst the mountains this is a spectacular location, perfect for nature loving/ landscape loving brides and grooms. With a bit of a nod to the Copper Industry, pared back Autumnal colours and beautiful bohemian gowns each supplier's contribution added the perfect touch to this Autumnal Shoot.

The Flowers

Becky The Florist: The brief was Prairie style at Coniston Copper Mines, perfect. I used grasses, seed heads, fennel, anything whispy and dried for the prairie feel. I then added brambles, moss, sunflowers, marigolds, crab apples and lichen covered branches for the Autumnal colours. I try to make everything look as natural as possible, as if it's growing out of the vessel. For the bouquet I used seasonal blooms, dahlias, just the perfect yellow to ping out a little bit and beautiful hand dyed silk ribbon from Bertie and Fred to compliment it all. Autumn is an amazing season.

The Dresses

From Shikoba Bride: The dresses featured are by Shikoba Bride and this is an exclusive world preview of this totally new bridal brand, launching in January 2018. 'Shikoba' is a native American name meaning 'feather' and the collection features beautifully bohemian, free-spirited, fashion-led, British designed bridal gowns. They are made from beautiful lace, silks, modern fabrics and delicate detailing. The Stationery

From Emma Jo Stationery: For the boho, mountain theme I knew I wanted to create something relaxed and informal and my inspiration came from the location, the Coppermines. I wanted to use small pops of copper so I thought the grey slate tones and textures of the area would be a beautiful contrast. To me boho is care free and unconventional and that’s how I saw the stationery. The grey marks and washes were all painted by hand directly onto the cardstock (not scanned and duplicated) so every piece is completely unique, the invites were also then foil printed in copper. The table plan is made of individually hand painted tags, hung from copper nails and framed with Becky’s beautiful branches.
